2025 Spring Session

GrassRoots Middle offers a unique educational experience beyond the traditional classroom setting for homeschool families and children aged 8-14. Our BIPOC-centered, nature-based program is held twice a week for 2.5 hours. It features two main blocks of 30-45 minutes each, with the remaining time dedicated to outdoor activity and collaborative learning. We meet from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We're thrilled to introduce the following lessons.

Science

Life Sciences, specifically Zoology and Botany. We use our community gardens as spaces to explore, discuss, learn and create.

Black History

Examines the experiences of African-descended people in the United States and around the world. Topics include: History, Social issues, Art, Literature, and Music.

Eco-Writing

Detailed study of describing natural landscapes, flora, fauna, and the sensory experiences of being outdoors.

Fun Fitness +

Creative Play Activities

Participation in spirited daily movement activities to build cardiovascular strength. This includes free-time to move our bodies autonomously in nature.

Handwork Activities

Work with your hands through sewing, beading, knitting or weaving and so much more.

Environmental Justice

Study the importance of just treatment and meaningful involvement of environmental protection and sustainability.
