Experiential Sessions at GrassRoots Middle

GrassRoots Middle offers a unique educational experience beyond the traditional classroom setting for homeschool families and children aged 9-14. Our BIPOC-centered, nature-based program is held once a week for 2.5 hours. It features two main blocks, each lasting 30-45 minutes, with the remaining time dedicated to outdoor activities, movement, and collaborative learning. We meet from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. on Fridays throughout the Summer (invitation-only), Autumn, Winter, and Spring seasons.

Our Current Experiential Session: Summer 2026

Fun + Fitness

This summer included pool hang outs. Swimming can support a child's healthy mental development, endurance and strength, general coordination and balance.

Third Spaces

Hang out opportunities without adult supervision. A great way for children to practice skills in the real-world independently.

Model UN

Inaugural collaboration with Four Seasons Global. Model UN can help tackle the fear of public speaking, improve analytical and problem-solving skills, develop a collaborative spirit, and give a taste of diplomacy to students.

Leadership

Internship opportunity as junior guides at Ancestor Seeds Montessori Microschool. Work-learn components are valuable as they give our students real-world exposure and hands-on experience.

Participation in spirited daily movement activities to build cardiovascular strength. This includes free-time to move our bodies autonomously in nature.

Scholars will guide sessions, make decisions together, and build something as a community in a playful, academic, grounded and joyful manner.

Explores environmental science, sustainability, and history, empowering scholars to understand ecological threats and take action.
